Food fit for dogs…and Jamaicans?

Monday, March 14, 2011

Cow cock…bovine bratwurst…dairy dick…whatever you want to call it, it’s the male sexual organ of cattle. And it’s used for two things, Jamaican soups and Doggie chewables.   It is also popular in many Asian countries. Only on special days would the men in my family get together to prepare Cow Cod Soup. The untrained ear probably heard (COW), like beef and (COD), like fish …Not this time people. Cow Cod is actually cow penis. I didn’t learn this until my 16th birthday, by then it was too late, I had already ingested tons of cow penises. Considered a delicacy and natural...

Forget Moscato…DRINK THESE!

Friday, January 7, 2011

“its a celebration clap, clap bravo lobster and shrimp and a glass of MOSCATO for the girl who’s a student and her friend who’s a model finish the whole bottle…”(rap by Drake) So finally, a new wine has entered the verses of the hip-hop world. Alize & Cristal are soo 2005! Drake said DRINK MOSCATO, so lets drink up!…Right?!…Not so fast. Moscato is quickly becoming the reigning ghetto juice. Dude thinks he's fly! Note to Fake Thugs: STOP TAKING PICS WITH BOTTLES OF SUTTER HOME MOSCATO!!!.  IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU A BALLER…Its actually CHEAPER than  a gallon of MILK! I...

4 Chicken Wings and Fried Rice

Thursday, January 6, 2011

4 chicken wings and Fried Rice Ambrosia of the Rap Gods! The staple of every ‘urban’ Chinese take out spot. Far from nutritious…but full of delicious. The colors are reminiscent of the sun, orange chicken wings, and yellow rice.  The experience is like no other! This true urban experience has and will always cost between $3-$5. It will keep you full for about 50 minutes. Take note, it tastes better from chinese restaurants with Bulletproof Plexiglas. Stereotypical Chinese Takeout Location These places also have the greatest concern for me, not because of the Bulletproof glass,...

SAVE WHITEY!!!!…DON’T THROW THE WATERMELON RIND OUT!!!

Thursday, January 6, 2011

On a 90 degree Brooklyn day, my local market was selling watermelon for 19 cents per lb. I rushed over and grabbed one the size of Aretha Franklin’s left breast. Got home, cut it up, and was left two things. Luscious, sweet, red flesh & a crap load of white rind. Money is tight, it’s always cool to make a meal where the main ingredient is something we usually throw away. When I was a kid, my mom usually made something I hated for dinner; she would always say ‘ THERE ARE KIDS STARVING IN AFRICA…EAT IT’ …she’ll be proud that I grew into a young lad that hates...

Korbel’s Hooch in a Tuxedo.

Thursday, January 26, 2012

Some may call this a brandy but at $7.99 a bottle..I feel more comfortable calling this ‘some nice brown liquor’.  Korbel did pretty well with this one. The bottle is beautifully dressed in gold & black. It looks like it belongs to another price tag.  There’s no twist cap on this one; a clever rigged plastic top with a cork. The smell is like a million bucks; a little caramel, fresh honey, and a hint of butterscotch. My shot glass sip was slightly sweet, slightly oakey, and leaves a warm mouth feel. It doesn’t linger though…once you swallow all the  nuances...

Domino’s Stuffed Cheesy Bread Review

Sunday, December 4, 2011

Domino’s started a cool marketing scheme about 2 years ago. Using real customers, real employees, and REAL-er ingredients; including a  garlicky oiled crust. I’ve enjoyed the changes. About 2 weeks ago, they unveiled the  NEW Stuffed Cheesy Bread. It comes in 3 flavors. Cheese; Spinach & Feta; & Bacon with Jalapenos.  I wasn’t aware of the additional flavors until I checked the website; for some reason it’s not mentioned in the commercial. They also claim it has the same amount of cheese as a medium pizza (ehh…maybe). I ordered the Bacon & Jalapeno...

The McRib Review…

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Cool Box Sauce was actually pretty good! This one is a DAMN lie! For almost 20 years, Mcdonalds has been serving the McRib Sandwich; but only for a blink. They bring it out for 3 weeks then it vanishes until next year. Every stinking year, I missed the opportunity to sample McD’s only ‘porker’. I made sure that didn’t happen this time around. I am proud to say I am no longer a McRib Virgin… well, maybe not that proud. Price $2.49/sandwich $4.49/value meal; option to add another McRib for $1.00   The Good Pretty large size. Bigger than I imagined. Visually, pretty close to the...

My favorite meal ever…(for now)

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Probably the most comforting meal I have ever devoured has been Cow Foot Pakistani style.  It’s this earthy beefy jelly meat with a dense, deep flavored gravy. The only way to do it right is to ‘Set it and forget it’. Just let it slowly simmer for about six hours; adding water every time it gets too low. Just allowing the flavors to develop. Cow toes and heels                                     Red onion, minced jalepenos, ginger & garlic start the show Best way to go so your house doesn't...
